Alley Cantina Mexican Restaurant (140 George Street)
Guaranteed to turn a grey day into a sunny Mexican fiesta. Check out the lively décor, authentic music and food to die for. Great value too. Try Henry’s special Mate (grass tea) or, for something a little stronger, a margarita.
Configure Express: The Gym For Women (15 Filleul Street)
Friendly, supportive, encouraging, nurturing, professional and kick ass. The best gym in town and they have a 2012 retailer of the year award to prove it. We love you Tania and the Configure Team.
Several decades ago, Edinburgh Way was a mere backwater on the edge of the main retail district then centred around the Princes Street Stock Exchange. How times have changed. Now, most of our favourite shops are conveniently clustered on this historic stretch of George Street between Frederick Street and Hanover Street. We had so much fun taking the night time shots on a very balmy Dunedin evening.
Larnach Castle (145 Camp Road, Otago Peninsula)
What a great way to spend a Dunedin ‘Indian Summer’ afternoon than at Larnach Castle having one of their special afternoon teas. Just the right quantity of sandwiches, scones and bite-sized cakes: cream-filled meringues, tiny star-shaped shortbread, gooey chocolate/coconut balls, and endless cups of tea served in delicate china. The quirky gardens make a fantastic backdrop for amateur photographers like us. Look out for Alice, the Cheshire Cat and the White Rabbit.
