Mamma Mia Pizza Celebrates its 4th Birthday (74 Crawford Street, Dunedin)
There’s average pizza and there’s pizza to die for. Mamma Mia Pizza definitely comes in the to-die-for category – thin doughy bases, fresh top-quality local ingredients and cooked to perfection. Slovakian-born master pizza maker, Michal Rozenberg, started off as a newspaper photographer. Lucky for us, he changed direction and studied the art of pizza making in Italy and Austria. About seven years ago, he came to New Zealand, initially living in Wellington. He ended up in Dunedin by accident and intends to stay here. He’s taken his mobile wood-fired pizza oven all over the city (and beyond) and now also has a three month residency at the Otago Farmers Market.
Otago Museum Discovery World Tropical Forest
It’s pouring with rain outside, so we’ve headed to the warmest spot in town, the Tropical Forest at the Otago Museum. It’s a magical experience for old and young alike. Every day at 10:30am, newly hatched butterflies from all over the world are released into the forest.
