Dia de Los Muertos at Purple Rain

Last night, Purple Rain Retro Cafe hosted Halloween or, for the Mexican aficionados, ‘Day of the Dead’, but the cafe could not have been more alive. The basement thudded with the beat of unsettling, spine-tingling performances by Messier 57, Nick Knox, Not From Space and THE VAMPS. The air was thick with cobwebs and zombie mannequins lurked in dark corners, transforming the normally elegant boudoir into an eery dungeon. Guests were treated to a spicy Bloody Mary on arrival – it packed a punch! To buck the ghostly trend, one of us went as Cruella de Vil, whose intentions would scare any pet owner to death (including us!). We wonder what tricks or treats will be up Debbie’s sleeve next.
